micro worlds

this project was about capturing a facial expression on a guy and blur the background. We used real toys and used 2D images. We blured the background so that it looks like the toy is in a real setting. The goal of this project was to create a fantasy world.

  1. Nice work Max. You did a good job of integrating your subject with the background. The picture's all tell a compelling story in just one frame, especially the last shot.

  5. I think blurring the backgrounds of these photos added and interesting affect that ultimately made the figure pop out. I like the movement in these pictures, it makes them seem more real.

  6. Great start Max! This is a very strong series where you managed to incorporate numerous techniques. I really like how although these are toys you were able to take portraits and convey different moods through facial expressions. I also like how in the last image the character interacts with his background.

  7. max i think you accomplished this assignment better than almost everyone, the first one is really cool (and creepy) because it uses the toys and life size elements. the third one is almost like the character is running at us and the shallow depth of field intensifies the moment and matches his expression. the kid with the fish blends perfectly with the background and so does the first one of the man falling back, but i dont think the second one is as good. i think the last photo might be my favorite, a quirky moment with a voyeuristic feel
